Economic impacts of climate-induced crop yield changes: evidence from agri-food industries in six countries

چکیده
The potential impact of climate change on agriculture has been one the most discussed topics in literature change. Although possible impacts crop yields have widely studied, there remains little quantitative understanding heterogeneous economic responses to climate-induced yield changes different economies, particularly at higher levels warming. This study assesses eight scenarios warming, from 1.5 4 °C, rice and wheat China, India, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana Ethiopia. role both natural social factors production is considered by coupling a statistical model (ClimaCrop) global (GTAP). Climate change impacts on crop yield: evidence from China.
When estimating climate change impact on crop yield, a typical assumption is constant elasticity of yield with respect to a climate variable even though the elasticity may be inconstant. After estimating both constant and inconstant elasticities with respect to temperature and precipitation based on provincial panel data in China 1980-2008, our results show that during that period, the temperat...
متن کاملClimate change impacts on crop yield, crop water productivity and food security – A review
This paper provides a comprehensive review of literature related to the assessment of climate change impacts on crop productivity using climate, water and crop yield models. The existing studies present that climate change models with higher spatial resolution can be a way forward for future climate projections. Meanwhile, stochastic projections of more than one climate model are necessary for ...
متن کاملClimate Change and Food Security: Health Impacts in Developed Countries
BACKGROUND Anthropogenic climate change will affect global food production, with uncertain consequences for human health in developed countries. OBJECTIVES We investigated the potential impact of climate change on food security (nutrition and food safety) and the implications for human health in developed countries. METHODS Expert input and structured literature searches were conducted and ...
متن کاملThe poverty implications of climate-induced crop yield changes by 2030
Accumulating evidence suggests that agricultural production could be greatly affected by climate change, but there remains little quantitative understanding of how these agricultural impacts would affect economic livelihoods in poor countries. Herewe consider three scenarios of agricultural impacts of climate change by 2030 (impacts resulting in low, medium, or high productivity) and evaluate t...
متن کاملDeterminants of Healthcare Expenditure in Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Countries: Evidence from Panel Cointegration Tests
Background Over the last decade there has been an increase in healthcare expenditures while at the same time the inequity in distribution of resources has grown. These two issues have urged the researchers to review the determinants of healthcare expenditures. In this study, we surveyed the determinants of health expenditures in Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries. Methods We us...
